Cupcakes!: Lilly Jane's Cupcakes

The fourth and final cupcake bakery of the week:

I didn't have my camera with me when we happened upon this cupcake bakery, so I didn't get a picture of the store, but I have to admit I didn't have high expectations. A low profile store, with an interior almost imitating that of Sprinkles, not another customer in sight, and a lacklustre website. I was pleasantly surprised though, with the unique flavors.

What I got: 5 cupcakes for $3.25 each (if I remember correctly. and there was a paper sign taped up in the window apologizing for the price increase due to the rising cost of supplies. I guess they had had some complaints.)

What I learned: Cupcakes and cupcake names can get pretty creative. Some cupcakes are better than others when they are a day or two old, but there is a reason why they are baked fresh daily.
So, let's see what's inside the box:

Caramel Apple Yum Yum (I have no idea what makes this little gem up, because it doesn't have those details on the website, and I actually didn't get a sample of this one (although I heard it was good), but isn't it a good idea?)

Lilly's Lemon (lemon cake with lemon butter cream frosting and a daisy on top. I thought this one was average.)

Strawberry Fields ("strawberry infused white cake" and "fresh strawberry butter cream frosting". this was not original in idea, but it was the best strawberry cupcake I've ever had. light, moist, and full of fresh strawberry flavor. I loved it more with every bite.)

Super Chocolate (chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, chocolate chips. again, not an original idea, but the name is right on - if a chocolate cupcake could be a superhero, this would be it.)

Peach Cobbler (this one was more of a muffin, and I was happy to see it at a cupcake bakery, because aren't muffins really just "healthy" cupcakes? when I tried it, it was a day old, so it was a little dry, but the potential seemed good. if nothing else, it was creative. unfortunately I don't see it on their website anymore, so I guess I'll never know what it would have tasted like fresh.)

Okay, Evelynn was outside running around, and I was alone with my cupcake. And I'll be honest. It was really, really nice. Unfortunately, this is the only picture we get.

Well, thanks everyone for being there for all this cupcake nonsense. Hello? Hello? Anyone there?

After reading all your posts, Dionne made cupcakes for me to take to YM and we decorated them for our activity. Kinda girlie, but the YM loved it. - Josh
