Evie had been asking to go on a boat as soon as she saw them. She was so excited when we boarded.
This picture is a little fuzzy, but you can kind of see how short it was below deck. Dave was even ducking here, so he could see me. I think at the tallest place, the ceiling here was below six feet. There were three levels below deck, and each one got shorter. This was the first one.
The enlisted men slept in hammocks, which I may have preferred to one of the officer's beds. Even the Captain's bed was only about five feet long. I guess you have to be short to be in the Navy...
short and strong. The steering wheel (?) was huge, and some of the ropes were as big around as Owen's head. Imagine pulling on that in a storm.
